Launching Cake Agents

Since 2023 Cake has helped regulated businesses build and operate their AI infrastructure faster and with greater control over their data, models, and workflows.

Starting in early 2026, we began receiving customer requests to extend the Cake Platform with a coding agent. In particular, customers have been inspired by implementations including Ramp Inspect, Stripe Minions, Harvey Spectre, and many others. They want a coding agent product that runs in their cloud, integrates with their systems, and allows them to bring their own models.

So we built it.

Today, we’re launching Cake Agents: a cloud-based coding agent platform designed for enterprises that want to accelerate agentic engineering without giving up control of their infrastructure, harness, or data.

Early customers and design partners have reinforced 3 reasons this matters.

  1. Bring your own inference provider
Builders shouldn’t have to accept any one model provider or markup on their tokens. Cake Agents lets customers bring their own inference via a model gateway. Early customers have cut token costs by more than 50% by switching from frontier labs to open-source models on Fireworks (case study here).

  2. Control your data
Cake Agents runs in your cloud. Organizations in industries with sensitive information or that demand Zero Data Retention have opted for Cake Agents for this reason alone.

  3. Move agentic engineering beyond the laptop.
The top benefit we hear from individual contributors is the explosion of productivity gained without a laptop’s hardware constraints. Developers regularly double or triple their number of concurrent sessions compared to the local git worktree route.

Most teams we meet are already in on coding agents, but token costs are climbing, and infrastructure and security concerns are becoming more insistent. Cake Agents is your option to own your agent stack, cut costs in half, and achieve your security goals today.
